Landing process with a work Visa

Hello,

I’m moving to Japan, and I was wondering what was the process like at the airport.
I’m arriving one month before the start of my contract to settle in my new apartment and travel a bit, and I was wondering if it’s going to be a problem at the immigration.

Thanks

  1. As long as you’re entering during the period your visa is valid for, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Generally you land, go through whatever health checks are now required, then to immigration where your visa will be checked and you’ll receive your zairyu card. Then on to baggage claim and then customs.

  2. If you have the visa then it’s fine. You can enter Japan immediately after receiving the visa even if you don’t start working right away. You’ll receive your residence card at the airport. Procedures are pretty standard except for the residence card part.
