I want to move to Japan in few years and become a manga artist, is there a way to work with Shueisha abroad?

I’haven’t decided which university to pick yet so if there is a way to contact publishers there than I’m interested.

  1. There are no manga artist visas, I’m afraid. If you want to become a manga artist, these days the best thing to do is to just make manga and publish online. It’s perfectly possible to make a success of yourself from your home country. It’s not a reasonable path for emigrating to Japan, though.

You can just email publishers with their publicly available contact information if you feel like you must, but don’t expect much in response.

  2. The plan should be to get accepted into a university and make plans for a student visa. I would assume that this would be for Art. And if so there are probably others trying to break into the manga industry and be a mangaka full time.

You should build connections and try to contact publishers while studying. Maybe self publish some small one-shot mangas to build a portfolio and presence to hopefully help you find publishers and vice versa.
