Hello! We will be visiting Japan in April 2023 for a total of 17 days as a family of 5. We would love to have your advice on our itinerary.
**Day 1-4:** Tokyo with a day trip to Nagano (possibly Day 3)
Tokyo Highlights: Recovering from Jetlag (arriving from Canada), Meiji and Sensoji
Nagano Highlights: Snow Monkey Park
**Day 4-9:** Osaka with day trips to Nara (possibly Day 5), Hiroshima (possibly Day 7) and Kobe (possibly Day 8)
Osaka Highlights: Dotonbori, Universal Studios
Nara Highlights: Deers
Hiroshima Highlights: Memorial Park + Museum, Atomic Bomb Dome, Oysters, Okonomiyaki
Kobe Highlights: Kobe steak
**Day 9-12:** Kyoto
Kyoto Highlights: Arashiyama Monkey Park + Bamboo Forest, Fushimi Inari, Tea Ceremony
**Day 12 (or Day 12-13):** Seki
Seki Highlights: Knife Museum
**Day 12-13 (or Day 13-14):** Shizuoka (ryokan)
**Day 13-17 (or Day 14-17):** Tokyo
Tokyo Highlights: Borderless Exposition, Shopping
Some questions we had:
* For people who visited Seki, is it worth to spend the night over, or should we move to the next city after a few hours of visit?
* If we are planning to go to Nagano, is it worth to also visit the Arashiyama Monkey Park (or vice-versa)?
* With this itinerary, we were planning to get the 7-Day JR Pass (from Day 3 Nagano to Day 7 Kobe, or Day 4 Osaka to Day 10 Kyoto) and pay for the other trips (Day 10-17) considering that most of short trips are within the first half of the trip. Or is it better to get the 14-Day Pass?
Many thanks!!
