Please take care if you are in the area. As of 20:50 the threat level has been raised to the highest possible, evacuation, eruption is very likely to cause damage to residential areas. If anyone has any good resources for those living in the area please post them in the comments.

There are fewer than 150 people in the evacuation zone. I wonder if any of them are on Reddit!
Seems to be fine now with specialists indicating that it does not seem consistent with signs of a bigger eruption. They raised the alert level to 5 because they did see particles being launched pretty far away
When I visited awhile ago many there boasted that the thing erupted like a hundred times a year. Hopefully this isn’t an existential one.
Ooh! I filmed lots of drone footage there over the last 2 years to make [this video](https://youtu.be/8zQq__argHw), which shows the lava lake in its crater. Saw plenty of ash clouds but no explosions like this one. Seems like it does something like this every few years.
