¥8000 tickets to New Chitose had me buy a ticket before I thought. I’ve got a few ideas, but looking for some advice as I know this is a mid-season lull. I am a solo traveler with limited Japanese knowledge and tattoos.
27th: Arrive at New Chitose at 17:05. Grab rental car, stay somewhere near the airport for convenience. Grab dinner at a recommended spot.
28th: up early and drive to Sounkyo Onsen town. Seeing mixed reviews on whether Sounkyo Onsen Choyo Resort is tat-friendly, but hoping to find one that is.
Check in and leave things. Here’s where I need the most help: ski or hike. I’ll either take the ropeway and hike the top loop of Kurodake OR rent gear for the day and do some late season skiing. Does anyone know which is more likely?
Evening at the hotel.
29th: Onsen in the AM, drive to Hokkaido Outdoor Adventures (hidaka Saru district) by 12:30. Bridge swing and night at their hostel.
30th: river raft all day, then back to Otaru for dinner and the night
31st: Otaru city things. Tbd on the list, but I’m confident here.
1st: tbd, probably not a lot—flight at 11:20.
So, I suppose my big question is about Sounkyo Onsen time. Does anyone have any alternate recommendations? I’m super flexible mid trip too; I’m alone and am ok shifting based on weather or conditions.
Thanks!

Onsen sounds dangerous right now.
Be safe.
Hokkaido is under special measures to try to reduce COVID cases. Non-essential inter-prefectural travel is strongly discouraged. Travelling for tourism is idiotic. You should cancel your trip and stay home.
