‘拙者は負けと分かっている勝負はせぬ主義’
‘Knowing when I’ve lost it my rule for matches.’
What is せぬ? I presume it’s the archaic form of something since the character saying it is a samurai. I thought it might be ‘しない’ but that doesn’t really make sense given the translation.
Why is 図に乗る “getting carried away” or “pushing one’s luck”
seems like it should mean you are put on a map or riding a map
i was under the impression that できん = できない but then i saw this line of dialogue from a video game:
>シャードは使いこなすと、攻撃や連携にも応用できんだが
in which the sentence makes doesn’t really make sense with できない (“if you master シャード, you can’t apply it to attacks and links”?) and seems to mean the opposite instead. what’s going on here?
This book is describing some kind of ghost who looks a lot like a child. In this sentence:
> 子供の姿をしたべつの生き物のようだ。
I was wondering what したべつ means, I can’t quite figure it out.
Otherwise this might mean “the child’s shape is like another living thing” or something like that?
