I wish more domestic items were a little cheaper. Locally grown fruit and vegetables are so much more expensive than imported stuff, but I always wonder what happens to those delicious looking 2500 yen Japanese mangoes which never seem to be sold nor discounted.

Been here around 25 years, Have seen prices drop from expensive to cheap in that time from clothes, to English books, etc but what has recently shocked me is how much the local combini store bentos have gone up.
Back in the day, You could buy a healthly bento, drink and bread for under 500 yen but now, the same costs 700 yen at best.
