Hi, so I’m considering attending the Nippon Designer School in Tokyo after I finish my GCE O levels. I currently live in Myanmar. But I’ve been attending Japanese language courses just for this. I do not have any knowledge about manga schools in Tokyo, and I just choose this one because its like one of the few schools I found over the internet. If you have any recommendations over which school I should choose please do. There are also a few more questions I’d like to ask..
1. Is the Nippon Designer School worth it?
2. Apart from the recommended Japanese Proficiency level, what qualifications are usually required to attend a Manga College
3. Are the any alternative paths to take if you want to become a mangaka in Japan
Thanks.

I can’t speak to the quality of that school or alternatives to it. But you should be aware that simply completing the program won’t confer any right to remain in Japan.
The main trouble with becoming a manga artist in Japan is that a work visa requires full time employment earning a livable wage. The majority of work in that industry is done completely freelance, meaning there is no employer to provide sponsorship.
So while these programs may be of value, especially in introducing you to industry contacts, you should form your plans around the idea of returning to your home country and furthering your development abroad.
