selling handmade goods

Hey all, 明けましておめでとう etc etc. Long time lurker, first time poster.

I live in Saitama and am in Tokyo regularly for work. I do some hobby crafting and have been told it’s worth selling it. I didn’t pay it much mind until recently when the amount of things I’ve made have started reaching a bit of a critical mass, lol.

Does anyone know of craft fairs or places to set up a little booth to try and offload some goods? I can speak enough Japanese to get by in a customer service situation and have access to someone willing to help me with more complex conversations like booking a rental spot or something going pear shaped unexpectedly.

I’ve done some searching online but didn’t find any good leads.

Thanks in advance if you can answer!

  1. I sell a lot of my handmade goods for fandom (anime, manga, etc.) at Akaboo events. There’s a general design/craft event as well through Akaboo called arteVarie, and the next one you still have time to sign up for is #92 in March. Check for details in the list here: https://www.akaboo.jp/event/

  2. Design Festa is a huge craft/art/handmade market held twice a year (spring and fall) at Tokyo Big Sight. It requires registration in advance but it gets a huge amount of traffic. Not sure if you’re looking for something of that scale, but it’s an idea!
