I’m looking for language schools for next year, Tokyo or Fukuoka?

Hi, I’ve been reading this subreddit for a long time, and now I decided to make an account finally 🙂

Long story short, 34M Software Engineer from Europe with an N5 level, next year I’ll study abroad in Japan for 1 year to mainly experience live abroad and check work opportunities there if I like the country. In a few I must decide where to study, I searched a lot about the different schools and cities and already narrowed down the options.

So I reduced this to Tokyo vs Fukuoka, Tokyo was my first choice, but Fukuoka appear on my radar because of the startup city theme, I guess. I’ve been to Tokyo twice for a month each, but I never stay in Fukuoka, but I keep reading good experiences of the place. I like beaches and nature and it seems more affordable, but I can also live well in a big city, so it seems like both places are great for me, to be honest. I’m beginning to wonder if Fukuoka is something closer to “the real thing”, I am fully aware that this is a very subjective opinion.

As for Schools in Tokyo my primary option is KAI and for Fukuoka is FFLC.

I’ll love to connect with people who are/was on the same situation and interchange opinions if you already made a decision 🙂

  1. Heard good things about Genki JAKS in Fukuoka. It’s more geared towards westerners too.

  2. Human Academy Japanese Language school has campuses all over the country. The Tokyo, Takadanobaba campus (I went to that one) has a really good mix of people all over the world.
