Hi all! Please feel free to criticize, recommend, and share anything! Most things are still very flexible and I’m open to any and all ideas.
For some context, I am a 21-year-old studying Japanese religion and am very interested in visiting temples and shrines above most other things 🙂
The city in brackets after each day is where I will be sleeping that night.
Day 1 (TOKYO)
* Arrive in Tokyo around 1pm
* Visit area in Shinjuku around accommodation, explore as possible but allow for jet lag recovery
Day 2 (TOKYO)
* Tokyo exploration day in Shibuya and Shinjuku
* Very open to recommendations for where to check out on this day!
Day 3 (TOKYO)
* Day trip to either Nikko or Kamakura. (Suggestions?)
Day 4 (TOKYO)
* Akihabara & time to allow a recommendation found since arriving/something I find between now and the trip in Tokyo
* Also very open to recommendations for where I should be heading within Tokyo!
Day 5 (OSAKA)
* Travel to Himeji and then work backward to Osaka. Spend the evening in Osaka.
* Is there a chance I could stop in Kobe for an hour or two in the afternoon or do you think I should leave it at Himeji and then Osaka for as much of the day as possible?
Day 6 (KYOTO)
* Travel in the morning to Kyoto. I’ve split up my two Kyoto days by geographical area. I won’t share all the details but this is where I’m most meticulous because there are more particular shrines and temples I want to see!
* Kinkaku-ji, Ryoan-ji, Ninna-ji, northern Kyoto…
Day 7 (KYOTO)
* Kyoto day 2.
* Fushimi Inari shrine, Kiyomizudera, Higashiyama neighbourhood, Kodai-ji…
Day 8 (NARA)
* Nara! To see the temples and deer and be there for Shuni-e at Toda-ji in the evening
Day 9 (TOKYO)
* Travel back to Tokyo and spend the night visiting somewhere I haven’t been yet or doing something I heard about while away. I haven’t booked this hotel yet, where should I stay for my last night??
Day 10
* Go home
