Greetings! My first post on reddit ever, I suppose. And this question probably gets asked every year, but, are there any grocery stores and/or supermarkets open now? Went to my local Create, Gyoumu and Aoba, all closed, and MyBasket (and any konbini, in that regard) are kinda lacking in the stuff I need.
Any suggestions/ideas as to what is open? Based around Yokohama.

Look at the stores local to you and their websites. It’s all incredibly localized and not a general “yes all X are closed or open”

Deal with it and eat simple food for a day? I mean, what do you want people to say? Yes, supermarket staff have new years off too.
If you do a Google search with the terms “aeon yokohama” you will get a list on Google maps. Click each one, give them a call to make sure they are open, and you should be able to find one open. Our local one is open today–I was just there getting some fruit… 😉
No idea. My local supermarkets are all open, normal hours too.
AEON, Daiei, Seiyu, all within a 5 minute bike ride.

It’s like this every year for 3-5 days. The only thing you can do is search “supermarket” on google maps and go to each one and see if they opened. Checking online might work but in my experience they don’t necessarily put that information online in an easily accessible manner, especially if it varies by location. All the supermarkets near me are closed (summit/ok store/etc)
There’s plenty of things you can eat in the conbini and a lot of restaurants are still opened, at least all the chains like dominos, McDonald’s, etc. all the big chain shops should be opened again from Wednesday so you’ll survive one more day of conbini bread or bentos or fast food
