Was looking to buy a Garmin from Germany as it was on sale, but there’s no option to purchase on the website so I’m assuming I will pay at the door when it arrives.
Does anyone have experience purchasing products in Japan from foreign markets and what kind of tax hike up will you pay upon arrival?

Tax office will send you a letter with the import fees you should pay for your purchases.
The letter has some QR codes and barcodes which can be used at any combini to pay those fees.
Just be careful because it used to be that Garmin watches and bike computers purchased from abroad didn’t have any Japan map data and couldn’t use Suica. Not sure if that matters for you though, but FYI.
