15 y/o going to visit family in june, how do I start?

Hello, I learned Japanese as my mother tongue when I was little. However by now I forgot it mostly, although I can still understand commonly used phrases (if you speak to me in Japanese, I will understand most of it). I’ve learned the hiragana (although I still need to study them a bit more) and haven’t started yet with kanji and katakana. I want to know: How should I start off and what recourses should I use. For context: I know Dutch, French, English and I am learning German at school, languages are usually my best subjects at school. I prefer textbooks as I get less easily distracted though online recourses are also fine.

  1. sense you already are familiar with the language i would recommend any “native” Japanese language books without any English ect, So i would go with Minna No Nihongo

  2. Genki is a popular textbook that’s recommended here often, but there are others too. Also I’d get katakana out of the way asap, no reason to delay learning it.

  3. In addition to the textbooks others have recommended, I recommend listening to simple stuff and gradually working your way up to harder things. Like watching a simple anime or maybe a show made for kids. Since June is only a couple of months away, it’s important that you do this as often as you can.
