Moving to Japan

I am planning to move in Japan mid 2025.
I am learning the language atm (beginner level)
I also work as a data analyst. I like my job and i want to have a career in that field. Are there jobs in Japan like this for foreigners (pref international companies) or i cant have both ?
I am not interested in english teaching jobs that most people get to do. I have a BsC in management science and i would like to make use of it.

  1. Working with data will almost certainly require working with data *in Japanese*, meaning you’ll need a very high level of Japanese to even be considered for most roles. Not only fluency in general business conversations, but potentially also domain-specific language and broader academic language. AFAICT that will be the main determining factor for whether you can do this in Japan.

You might find some English-only roles, but I imagine there’s not much demand for data analysts that can’t fully understand written data, nor communicate insights to stakeholders.

  2. Check out American companies with Japan offices and you never know, you may get lucky and find something in your skill set. Otherwise learn Japanese. Or start your own company, which will require you to get a business visa and has income requirements. May I ask, why the desire to live in Japan?
