I was hoping to visit Tokyo the first 2 weeks of April, and I prefer to stay in Shibuya but I’m having a hard time finding any hotels or rentals available.
Is there a big event happening during that time that would deter travelers? Google isn’t helping me.

Definitely Sakura season, the first in a long time with no restrictions (including when it comes to tourism). We booked a month ago and there was nothing sensible near Shibuya. Then we found the Super Hotel Premier Akihabara with insanely low rates, so we snapped up a room. Saved a crap ton compared to other parts of Tokyo. Unsure if there are any left by this point but wouldn’t hurt to check! Best of luck.
