This osechi ryori looks so good!
in the bowl on the right:
boiled mochi & redbean paste
there was also kinako (roasted soybean) powder for the mochi on the table but i left it out by accident…also left out the bowl of clear soup served during New Year’s… : (

on the tray, starting from the top right going down:
stewed kintokimame (red kidney beans)
sliced kamaboko (fishcake – typically the red and white varieties are served during New Year’s)
mashed satsumaimo (sweet potato) and kurumi (chestnut)
a triangle of stewed kabocha (Japanese pumpkin)
stewed kuromame (black soybeans)
quick-fried kurumi (walnuts)
black sesame tofu with sweet miso dressing
kobumaki (rolled kelp with cooked salted salmon in the center)
namasu (vinegared shredded daikon radish and carrot – red & white are key colors!)
