What’s the easiest way to deposit or send USD back to the states?

Evening.

I’m in Japan and I have a bunch of actual USD cash that I need to send back to the USA, or at least back to my USA bank account.

Is there a way to get this back to the states aside from sending it via lettermail? I’m a bit at a loss from google, as it seems to think I want to send yen (and convert to USD) to the states.

  1. I think someone would have to physically carry it back, or your could get it converted into yen and then use the yen to do a bank transfer. I don’t think any bank will take American cash except to exchange it for yen. But I suppose you could go ask.

  2. No way would I send cash through the mail… there’s too much of a risk of theft.

  3. If you really do not care about the rates, maybe western union? You could also try converting it at a shop (though I think you missed a nice window for it a couple months ago).

If it’s enough money to where the rates matter, book yourself a flight to the US (half serious)
