Evening.
I’m in Japan and I have a bunch of actual USD cash that I need to send back to the USA, or at least back to my USA bank account.
Is there a way to get this back to the states aside from sending it via lettermail? I’m a bit at a loss from google, as it seems to think I want to send yen (and convert to USD) to the states.

WISE is the easiest way I can think of.
Does Western Union in Japan accept USD cash for walk-ins? May be worth asking them.
I think someone would have to physically carry it back, or your could get it converted into yen and then use the yen to do a bank transfer. I don’t think any bank will take American cash except to exchange it for yen. But I suppose you could go ask.
No way would I send cash through the mail… there’s too much of a risk of theft.
If you really do not care about the rates, maybe western union? You could also try converting it at a shop (though I think you missed a nice window for it a couple months ago).
If it’s enough money to where the rates matter, book yourself a flight to the US (half serious)
Western Union will take your USD and send it back to the US
