Is it possible to start a martial arts school in Japan?

It’s always been a lifelong dream of mine to live in Japan (like everyone else in here im sure). There comes the obvious question though of how would I be able to make a living. Now I’m a lifelong martial artist who’s competed at high levels of full contact kickboxing. Currently I make a living as a muay thai coach and personal trainer. With the recent rise MMA in asia do you think itd be a possibilty to start an Kickboxing/Muay Thai school in Japan? Or would they run me out because its not a traditional japanese martial out/i’m white lol. Follow up is it a feasible thing for a foreigner to move in and start up a business?

  1. You can start whatever business you want in Japan, you just need to be a resident. Your challenge would be getting permission to reside in Japan whilst starting/running this school. I imagine that would be nigh on impossible – if there’s one thing Japan doesn’t really need foreign entrepreneurs for, I imagine it’s martial arts schools 😅
