Neighbor’s shiba outside at night

Its cold out and its only gonna get colder and my neighbors keep their shiba outside. It barks for a while during night before it sleeps and ive talked to them about it but the neighbors say that shibas grow their coat so they can survive the winters so its not cold.
It doesn’t bark in the morning even if the temps are same as night. Its not food either since they feed at 7pm and its not enough exercise either cause ive walked him for a kilometer but he barks after head to my home.

What can i do to help this dog? I cant let him into my house.

  1. Keeping dogs outside is common all around the world and dogs are pretty good at surviving colds unseen anywhere in Japan. Shiba are pretty hardy dogs too and I think it barks more out of boredom rather than anything else.

  2. Maybe you could get a warm blanket and give it to them as a friendly neighbor gift for the shiba?

  3. The current temperatures are no problem at all for a shiba, unless maybe she’s very old and frail. Shibas do have a thick double-coat that protects them well from the cold. As long as she can get out of the wind and rain and has food and water, there’s nothing to worry about. Hardy little creatures, they are.

And she’s not your dog. Unless you can convince the owners to sell her to you, there’s nothing you can do.
