Hello,
I have been working in a translation job for roughly 6 months as a 正社員, there were some issues with my employer, and I was offered severance, so I took it. Now I need to find a new job.
I have two questions about working and switching jobs in Japan with a 技術 人文知識 国際業務 visa. I would really appreciate it if someone with some experience in the matter could offer some insight.
1. I was 正社員 in my last job, but is it possible for me to work as a 業務委託 without changing my visa? If yes, what documents do I need to submit (links to articles/procedures would be helpful)?
2. I found some jobs listed online that are not based in Japan EU/US etc. Can I work full-time remotely for a company that is not based in Japan while keeping my current 技術 人文知識 国際業務 visa?
If there are any other things I should be aware of relating to my post, I would be very grateful if you could tell me, thank you very much.

I don’t know the answers to other questions but that one is a definite NO. You need to be working for a company with an office in Japan and getting paid by them.
For number 2, they’d need to have an office in Japan, or use a local employment company to hire you.
1. It’s possible. In short you need to show immigration you’re capable of stable income, meaning one of your biggest client is willing to be your visa sponsor when it’s time you renew your visa. And you’ll need to have a long term contract with them to be viable (not just a short term contract like 1-3 months). You prob need them as well when you quit your current job and inform immigration concering a change of employer. Just search for term 業務委託 就労ビザ in google, you can’t link in this sub.
2. Like other said, impossible, you need to be hired by a company that have presence in Japan.
PR (or spouse of Japanese national and equivalent) is the best visa for these kind of job, since they don’t have working limitation. This could be one route to plan before switching to 業務委託.
