I have always had an interest in the Japanese language, and have been searching the internet for a beginner learning workbook. I have come across a few, Genki, and Minna no Nihongo, but upon looking at some of the reviews I was skeptical about buying either of them. Are these the best ones to buy, or is there one that I have not found yet that is a better alternative? I appreciate any suggestions!

Genki is a good one. I haven’t dedicated too much time to it, but it’s easy to follow and I highly recommend the textbook, workbook, and answer key.
What reviews left you skeptical of it?
genki is perfectly fine. better to get started and experiment for yourself than to forever waffle over trying to pre-optimize the whole process.
Minna no nihongo is the best to me! They use these book in japanese school for foreigners also!
