I’ve been trying to figure out what this type of coat is called to google for art references and wasn’t sure where else to ask. This might not even be a Japanese coat at all?

The whole outfit is called 紋付羽織袴 (montsuki haori hakama) and the black coat specifically is 羽織 (haori).
