Funny(?) story.
My wife and I have been enjoying the holiday season by placing electric LED candles around our place during the evenings. You know, to make things more cozy. Always nice walking home seeing some flickering nice lights in your windows knowing your loved ones are waiting.
Anyway, last night I forgot to turn off the ones we had placed on the windowsill of the window facing our only immediate neighbour, an elderly couple (70yrs+) who shut themselves indoors from 5PM and wakes up at 3AM every night to open the rain barrier doors / amado of their 2 story estate (you know the really rattly and noisy ones).
Me, my wife, and our two kids (4 and 0) were suddenly all woken up at 4AM up by repeat doorbell rings, banging on the door and screaming outside. As I go to check I notice the electric candles are still on and just then I hear the sound of a siren coming closer and closer. It then all dawned on me…
Next 30 minutes was spent showcasing the source of the “fire” in my pajamas in near freezing temperatures, explaining to our neighbours we had been using them every evening for over a month already, and apologizing to observers and the fire department for disturbing the peace. In the end I am thankful we have so thoughtful neighbours in the event something would actually start burning.
TLDR: do not leave your electric LED candles on overnight unless you want to be visited by 3 fire engines screaming their sirens outside your house at 4AM in the morning due to well meaning, kind and cautious neighbours.
Happy new year and TGIF

Something to laugh over in the future, but right now well done on not setting fire to their home in retaliation.
I have an old neighbor with his plastic recycling bin outside his back door. Every morning at around 4am he crushes pet bottles to put in the bin. The noise is unholy loud at that time in the morning and fuck knows where he is getting them all from, he must be downing liquid all day.
