Covid checks for layovers/connecting flights at NRT?

I will have a layover at NRT heading to the US. My PCR will be good in the morning leaving country A, but will go past 48hrs while in transit on the connecting flight in NRT. Wondering if they will check it again while layed over in NRT.

  1. The US requires the test be done at most one day ahead of departure, so you won’t be ok to fly with a test done two days ahead. Japan has no requirements for transit.

  2. I flew to the US in April. Test needs to be within 1 day of the departure of the international leg of the flight. If you’ve already left your home country and just transiting through Japan, you should be fine. I got the impression that the US doesn’t really give a shit when I flew. The only time my paperwork was checked was when I checked in to my flight. I left from Japan though so I don’t know if Japan would re-check if you’re leaving from another country. I just know that customs and immigration in the US aren’t going to ask to see it.

  3. Friend arriving Hawaii from Singapore 6/7 via NRT 3 HrLO. got 2 Vac 1 boost , completed affidavit and documented Antigen test taken 6/6. Boards US leg 30 hrs after negative test. Every indication shes good to go. There is no airline change which I think helps the lines of communication. BTW Mahalo’s for this post. Excellent timing and good feedback.
