Honeymoon to Japan including Okinawa

My fiancée and I are getting married in March, I’ve already begun to plan our 14 day honeymoon to Japan. We both want to do the basic Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka route, but is it possible to reasonably weave Okinawa in there somewhere? Or is it just too far? Has anyone done both? Thanks in advance.

  1. It wouldn’t be too far, since you’ll go by plane, and it wouldn’t take too long. I think a couple/few days in Okinawa would work fine.

  2. If I were you, I would fly from Narita to Okinawa on the first day in Japan and spend a couple of days there and then fly to Osaka, then next Nara, kyoto. Visit Tokyo on my last days in Japan and go back to homeland from Narita

  3. Tokyo can be very busy and a little stressful in my opinion (especially ir being the most densely populated city on earth). A countryside visit including spas and hikes would be really cool. Congratulations and enjoy your time with such wonderful people!

  4. As I mentioned on another post, you might want to consider cutting some out. 4 cities plus Okinawa is a lot in two weeks. You’ll spend more time rushing from place to place versus having the time to enjoy anything.

You can have a good experience, say, flying to Okinawa first, head back to Osaka or Kyoto, then Tokyo. There’s more than enough to see and do in each city to keep you busy.

Also keep in mind it’s a 3 hour flight to Okinawa. That alone will take most of the day to travel, depending on what time your flight is.

Otherwise, if you’re looking for anything specific in Okinawa, hit me up. I lived there for 5 years. Can tell you all sorts of places to visit and eat.

  5. Osaka, Nara, and Kyoto are all like within 30 minutes of each other. If you don’t mind a bit of a commute to go see things it might be easier to do all 3 from the same hotel.
