So the FBI rejected my fingerprints twice for poor fingerprint quality. This isn’t surprising bc I have a really bad skin condition on my fingers. I’m wondering if anyone knows if JET will accept a FBI name check instead?
Try asking your consulate instead? Their answer would be much more valid than ours.
Talk to your consulate. No one here can even give you a close answer.
Hey, so about 10 years ago I had the same problem— I think I ended up having my fingerprints rejected 3 times (I had them done professionally at the police station too) and then on the 4th try my consulate just told me that if it fails again I could try again in Japan at the discretion of my BOE. Luckily I didn’t have to do that and they went through and everything turned out ok, but I was so worried. Also I got a false positive on my TB skin test 🙃 And also I got locked in the bathroom of the Miami consulate general’s house, so I had to climb out the window in my suit. Basically, I am the poster child of everything going wrong, and yet I still ended up in Japan and everything turned out ok. To help ease your mind 😂
I know it’s not always financially viable for everyone, but it might save you a lot of time and heartache to find a place to get digital finger prints taken. This time my finger prints had to be retaken a few times, but I knew immediately if they were accepted or rejected and so instead of having to wait weeks for the FBI to reject them, I knew right away and the lady could retake them. It ended up being cheaper for me to get digital prints in the long run and so so much easier.
I agree with the other advice that you should talk to your consulate, but if they won’t let you do a name check, then bite the bullet and go for the digital prints.
