Learning vocab in context

What’s the best method for learning vocab in context? I feel like my method of a ton of SRS then reading could be improved upon. It takes ages for words to actually stick in my mind. But I have also noticed that if I learn a new word with strong context, like in a game, it sticks instantly. Considering wanikani but it’s pricey

  1. NHK easy news. Besides practicing how to use the vocab you have learned and grammar, you also learn few premade sentences from a variety of real life topics that can be integrated into conversations with any Japanese speaker.

I suggest you have at least 2000 words vocab and N4 grammar to be able to read it without too many interruptions. The kanjis have option for furigana.

  2. Instead of doing spaced repetition with words, you can do with whole stories, or whole videos or songs, reading/watching/listening multiple times until you master it. But look for easy and short ones.
