Neflix has a fair amount if you use a Japanese VPN and you set your language to Japanese, and there are some other Japanese-only streaming services (Abema, Hulu Japan, U-NEXT) but honestly the simplest way to get Japanese content outside of Japan is sailing the high seas (because modern copyright law means that production companies refuse to take your money and you need to work around the restrictions they’ve put in place in order to be granted permission to give them money). Access to J-Drama subtitles outside of approved streaming services is a mixed bag but you sometimes can find them (especially if the show is newer and was ripped from an online source).
Not a J drama but Terrace house is amazing for learning – can be boring to watch but mimics natural speech that the Japanese people use day to day.
I watch on TVer! You can filter by shows with JP subtitles and no subtitles in the search bar. You will need to vpn to watch if you are outside of Japan.
Rakuten Viki
Some stuff has Japanese subtitles, some does not.
I like to watch variety shows. They tend to have a lot more context and japanese sub titles. I just dont know where to find more
VPN is your friend yeah!
I use Asian Drama Unlimited.
[jdramacademy](https://jdramacademy.com) has a unique player that allows you to display both english and japanese sub. though it doesnt have the latest jdrama, it is a good resource for learning!
Amazon Prime has tons. And we just set our TV to record stuff as it comes out.
I don’t know how easy or difficult the Japanese is (not at a level where I can judge that yet) but I watched the live action version of Erased recently, it’s available on US Netflix and I’d highly recommend it from a story / production values perspective. They also have the anime version but I didn’t watch it.
Free TubiTV has a few Jdramas and Jmovies. Video image quality is excellent but there are some ads.
Tubi is rolling out English subs that can be toggled on and off, but not sure if that works for all shows.
