So i’m doing anki deck with minimal pairs.
振られる「ふられる」 \[ɸu͍ɽaɽeɽu͍\] to be dumped
降られる「ふられる」 \[ɸu͍ɽaɽe↓ɽu͍\] to be rained on
They are two words with really different meaning, and there’s so little difference that you can’t even read it(?). I mean, last sylabel is where we hear the difference and reading the hiragana between the two words you won’t be able to spot it, they are the same. So I’d guess the only way is trough kanji that’s at the beginning? But we are hearing the change at the end of the word, not beginning. Thanks in advance for help <3

In most cases, the context will distinguish them — just like how in English, you can tell the difference between “tow” and “toe”, or between “rose” and “rows”, even though they’re pronounced identically.
For example, if you hear somebody say 「かのじょ に ふられた」, you can be pretty sure the verb is 振られる and not 降られる.
