Onsen resort in Kansai area with private bus leaving from Osaka

Hi all

In the last years I found the Yukai resorts, a chain of resorts around Japan with onsen and, most of them, buffet dinner. The really nice feature is those near Osaka have a private bus that take you from Osaka to the hotel an back the day after. You can book the bus seat during room booking with a very affordable price. I would know if exist some other onsen resorts offering the same private bus service from Osaka since I really like this solution considering the very high costs of transport in Japan.

Thank you

  1. A lot of medium to luxury resorts in Japan will offer private bus/shuttles from the nearest station at a small fee or no charge. If you’re lucky smaller hotels will share a shuttle amongst a small cluster of them.

This is country wide and is usually mentioned on the resort website. Sometimes you have to arrange it ahead of time, others they pick up at the station at designated times. Depends.

Travel around Japan isn’t that expensive though JS.

  2. That seems interesting as they do not seems to be especially close to Osaka, so if the price for their bus is lower than the train, then that is interesting.

For the places that I saw offer the bus service is usually a place that is over a km away from the closest station and they offer pick-up at the station.

However, is the goal is to not pay too much on transportation, why not just go to places that are closer, like Arima onsen is about 1000 yen one way from Osaka station. This is just an option that is quite famous, but I’m pretty sure there is some option south of Osaka prefecture for smaller onsen that would not be too expensive to reach by train.

  3. Someone beat me to it. Arima-onsen.
You take a bus straight from Umeda Station, to Arima-onsen.

Super famous, and great onsens all around. The general hotel prices are little expensive. But, if you look around good enough, even on Airbnb, there are really well priced places.

I drove there once, but honestly, it would’ve been cheaper for me to take the train closest to my home, and then bus it, rather than drive on over to Arima-onsen. It’s very straightforward commute by bus.
