So I’ve been trying to get back into LingQ because I love the idea of the learning format but every single lesson I take has kanji with the wrong hiragana marked for translation to the point its becoming harmful in my studies cause im studying these in the app then finding out when i re-use them with my tutor ive been reinforcing the wrong thing.
I try to read without furigana but when tapping the word/vocab object it still shows the wrong sound.
So far I’m finding I have to re-check any new word against a dictionary to ensure that whats being said as the phonetic use in the app is correct which seems ridiculous for a paid langauge app.
Im curious:
– Does anyone else have this problem?
– Does it get better or worse? (Im still in Genki stages
– Has anyone found a way to correct it? Editing the sentence seems to do nothing.

If you’re using the web version, do yourself a favor and install Yomichan and use that instead of LingQ’s dictionary feature as Yomichan’s parsing is way better.
This solves most of the issues.
Also keep in mind that most lessons on LingQ have accompanying audio, usually the audio is correct, so when it doubt refer to the audio.
LingQ also has a feature that’s intended for expressions, so you can select multiple “words” and save that as an entry.
When the parsing messes up, say the word, 大学生 “daigakusei” gets split up into 大学 生、and it’s saying that the reading is “daigaku nama” or something stupid like that, you can select the whole thing as an “expression” and you’ll probably see a correct entry for 大学生.
You need to have a sense for how to parse Japanese to do this, but it’s one way to work around LingQ’s quirks, especially if you’re on mobile and can’t use Yomichan.
Personally, if you’re a beginner, I’d use Satori-Reader instead.
It’s less expensive, and it’s a handcrafted experience meant to guide you through the content step by step.
I do like LingQ, I’ve used it a lot, I even paid for the full version for 2 years (just cancelled a few weeks back), but it is far from beginner friendly, at least when it comes to Japanese.
