Children’s Song?

こんにちは! I’m just starting learning 日本語, and while browsing here, when asking about music, the consensus is that It helps with vocab, not so much grammar or even pronunciation because of way the lyrics need to be made.

But what about children’s song? They usually (at least in my country) até catchy, with really common words with the right pronunciation and simple but right grammar. So you have any recommendation of how to find, or the best children’s song in Japanese?

  1. There’s a whole bunch of lyrics [here](https://www.uta-net.com/artist/4002/), but songs usually lack context and I’d imagine graded reader or something is much easier to understand. You’re correct with grammar, depending on target age of the song, it’s not going to help you too much.

After going through some of them with nostalgia, I immediately noticed two things: a) [onomatopoeia is going to mess with just about every learner](https://www.uta-net.com/song/13982/), and b) [some of the imagery are easier for us to imagine being familiar with Japanese stuff, but not so much for anyone otherwise](https://www.uta-net.com/song/11022/).
Perhaps the latter is more or less applicable to your language’s children’s songs as well?

  2. If pokemon is your thing I can recommend the youtube channel ポケモン Kids TV. It’s cute and fun.

  3. why insist on doing things only if they’re maximally educational? if you want to listen to japanese music for adults, listen to it. it doesn’t have to be the best kind of studying. watch anime with subtitles, play jrpgs in english. it’s fine. you can study separately, or intermix, but you don’t have to turn every hobby into study.
