MyNumber card without permanent address

If I understood correctly it takes at least 1 month and they mail you a card to your address that you need to bring right?

Is there a way to get the MyNumber card without them having to send something to my address?

Or can I have them ship it to an address that’s different from the back of my foreigner card? (I’m here on a 1 year working holiday visa)

I don’t have a permanent address as I’m traveling all over Japan and basically changing places every few days/weeks

  1. Is there a reason you want/need the card? Is it just for MyNa points?

To me, it’s sound like an unecessaey hassle for only a year stay.

  2. It takes at least a month and, in my part of Tokyo, at least, you have to show up to the ward office/city hall in person (with photograph ID showing your address) to pick it up. They will not mail it to you.

  3. I recently applied for it. I got a post card telling me to call the number and pick it up at the ward office.

  4. I might be wrong but isn’t it necessary to have a ‘permanent address’? At least for the zairyu card, don’t they punish you when you fail to provide a new address within 2 weeks?
