I recently talked with a friend about japanese policics. Afterwards I tried to look into the political system a bit more, though my Japanese is not great.
Since in Japan there are relatively little non Japanese people – is there any politician who did not have the Japanese nationality on birth i.e. a “foreigner” who obtained the Japanese nationality later on?
That would be really interesting to know, in case anybody of you knows!

Yea, there are. Examples are a google search away. “japanese politician naturalized” brings up:

Marutei Tsurunen. There’s a German or Swiss man that naturalized involved in politics in Yokohama. Some one here might know his name. It’s possible.

There’s that guy originally from Sri Lanka, can’t remember his name though
Personally I’m more concerned about Ferrignos in Japanese politics because of the anger issues.
