Itinerary check – 27th of April to 17th of May – Best order Tokyo/5 Lakes/Hiroshima/Osaka/Kyoto/Hakone?

Hello everyone,

I will travel to Japan with my boyfriend to 27th of April to 17th of May, and I wanted to have your feedback on our eventual itinerary.

We will arrive to Tokyo Airport and fly back from there, so we will stay a few days to Tokyo at the beginning and at the end of our stay.

We would like to active JR Railway pass (14 days) to travel to 5 lakes region / Hiroshima / Kyoto / Osaka / Hakone.

I am not quite sure about the best order for Hiroshima / Kyoto / Osaka / Hakone …

My boyfriend really wants to stay a few nights in Osaka AND Kyoto even if it is close to each other.

We didn’t have all our plans fixed yet, but we have some ideas for each city. These are not my concerns here (there are a lot of temples, museums everywhere!).

# **Questions**:

– We wanted to see a Sumo wrestling in Tokyo, is it typical for foreigners to go watching it? I don’t want to be out of place or disrespectful. Do you have suggestions for a sport if Sumo wrestling is not convenient?

– What would be the best and fastest way to go from 5 Lakes region (Kawaguchiko) to Hiroshima?

– We will be at Tokyo and (supposedly) 5 lakes regions during the Golden week. Do you know how crowded it could be?

– Is Kawaguchiko a good place to stay to visit the 5 lakes region? We choose it because it seems a quite central station for buses and go around the lakes.
We have booked to HAOSTAY hotel but I am still able to change.

– If the journey is not convenient from Kawaguchiko to Hiroshima, do you have another suggestion for the order between :
5 lakes region / Hiroshima / Kyoto / Osaka / Hakone ?

– What is the best way to go to Hakone? Is there a railway station? In our guide book, they suggest bus.
