Fuji Excursion platform? Sense check

Hey guys,

Travelling to Japan next week, arriving at Narita Airport.

Quick itinery summary

Arrive Narita Airport – 6:00AM

Take NEX. Narita Airport to Shinjuku – 7:37AM to 9:18AM

Take Fuji Excursion. Shinjuku to Kawaguciko – 9.30AM to 11:25AM

Given the timings above, I would only have 12 minutes to get to the Fuji Excursion train at Shinjuku station.

Anyone has experience doing this? What was it like?
Is the departing platform for Fuji Excursion always fixed? Which platform is it? (So that I know which direction to sprint towards)

  2. Look at the Shinjuku station map here: [https://www.jreast.co.jp/estation/stations/866.html](https://www.jreast.co.jp/estation/stations/866.html) (select 1F)

Narita Express will arrive platform 5-6. Fuji Excursion depart from platform 9-10. It might not be obvious from the image, but it’s quite a walk. I wouldn’t really recommend you do the connection if you aren’t familiar with Shinjuku station, especially if you are also haling luggage.

  3. How are you so confident you will be able to make the NEX 1.5h after arriving? Considering possible flight delays and queues at immigration?

  4. I’ve never taken NEX and arrived on time (both directions – at least 10 trips). I wouldn’t risk it.

  5. Looks too risky but you tube indicates NarIta Express arriving at platform 5/ 6 and Fuji Excursion leaving from Platform 9. Well sign posted.

  6. Thats very tight…. The trains here at Japan always leave on time. And I’m staying at Shinjuku, the station is always crowded no matter what hours… and heaps of people are waiting in line at JR office and station offices…
