How long does it take to get Yunyu Kakunin-sho?

Hello,

I’m going to live in Japan for a couple of months come mid-June and I have some medications I need to bring over. Thing is, one of them I’ve only just started, and I don’t think my doctor is willing to give me a a signed prescription for a two and a half month supply for another few weeks until I know how they’re affecting me.

How long does it take after emailing my documents to receive the certificate? Would waiting until a couple weeks before departure be okay?

Thank you

  1. Less than a week, usually.

Do they not call this 「薬監証明」anymore??

  2. Mine only took 4-5 days, and that was with a revision needed. It’s still a good idea to submit the paperwork for it as soon as you have your flight information because if they require any revisions or additional documentation, it might be difficult to get it from your doctor in time if you apply last-minute. They say as long as you apply at least one week in advance you should be ok if you have everything you need though.
