Buying Laptop

Hi i’m thinking of buying a laptop (gaming within 200k yen price range) can you recommend any websites here in japan? Btw i’ve checked out dospara and they have a stale selection. I used to order from newegg and a lot of people say that newegg sellers (chinese sellers) are scamming people and it’s hard to do refunds.

Btw i’m living in the inaka. No access to cheap electronics shop.

I have edited my post since I did not specify what kind of laptop I wanted.

  1. It depends on the price range. Most laptop computers in Japan have JIS keyboard. If you prefer a US keyboard, there are not so many options, especially in a budget price range (~ 50K yen). Some Chromebooks from ASUS have US keyboard.

I once bought ThinkPad on Yahoo! Auction and swapped the keyboard, but that was ten years ago, so it may not be an option any more. Recently, I have purchased a cheap laptop from amazon.com.

  2. Order from ASUS JP or Lenovo JP online if you’re looking for a gaming laptop. It’s also cheaper to ship a decent laptop from the U.S even with import taxes for most models (MSI, Lenovo, Acer, ASUS, Razer etc). If you’re looking for some shitty laptop that will do the basics just buy it from Yamada Denki or something.

  3. My solution – MS Surface bought in Japan with warranty and cover with US keyboard bought on eBay.
