Why is this relative sentence in past?

Hi everyone. I don’t know if this is the right place for asking these types of questions, and sorry if it is not. I was practicing in Duolingo and found the following sentence:

涼して乾燥した場所に保存してください
Edit: 涼しくて乾燥する場所に保存してください
Please store it in a cool and dry place

So my question is: why is 乾燥した in past tense? Shouldn’t it be in present tense since it is a place that now is and should remain dry and cool? Just like this:

涼して乾燥する場所に保存してください
Edit: 涼しくて乾燥する場所に保存してください

Thanks in advance!

  1. The place is cool and dry now, so it was cooled and dried at some point in the past. If it’s する then the place WILL be cool and dry, so right now it’s warm and muggy.

  2. Shouldn’t that be 涼し**く**て乾燥した場所 to match the translation? Then is it past tense because it should be stored in a “place that is cool and made dry “.
