I’m a legacy Line Mobile user, still on the DoCoMo network. It seems that I can use my service when I visit the US, but Line Mobile users on the SoftBank network cannot. Like most Line Mobile users, I receive regular e-mails urging me to switch to LINEMO, which I understand to basically just be a super cheap tier of SoftBank’s regular cell phone service. I’m aware that SoftBank purchased a major stake in Sprint, which later merged with T-Mobile USA, and that there may be some kind of line-sharing agreement between the two. I’m just curious if anyone here has personal experience using Line Mobile and/or LINEMO in the US and how expensive it was. Would you use it again or would you just get a local SIM once you’re in the country? Thanks!

do not roam on any mvno. get a local sim (or e-sim). the softbank free roaming (americahodai) is only for their full service customers. it has no connection to mvno users.
that said ahamo (docomo) does have two weeks roaming abroad available. but that’s a different provider.
