Heading back to Japan in May with my daughter.
On the previous trip my daughter had a child Passmo card, she is now to old for the child fare, so will she need a new card or will the card she used before (which she would get the child rate) automatically change to adult fare.

It won’t change automatically. You have to ask the station staff to change it to adult card.
