where do I find ginger shots in Japan?

I don’t know if this sounds weird. But my stomach sometimes gets upset after eating and this happened as well back in Netherlands. At a store in Netherlands I could always buy these small ginger shots, apparently ginger calms down an upset stomach, and it actually worked. It were basically these small bottles filled with ginger extract and some citrus. I remember seeing a ginger shot in the convience store somewhere, but every convience store I looked recently doesn’t seem to have it. Does anyone know where I could buy this? I am in Shibuya.

  1. If you have a bit of extra cash you could buy a cold press juicer. I have ginger with juice regularly.

  2. Not inexpensive, and not quite the same, but sunshine juice has a “rehab shot” that is ginger, lemon, and cayenne pepper. The closest one to you is likely Ebisu, so maybe worth trying unless the cayenne would worsen your issue.

  3. I remember seeing ginger extract bottle at a coop. but the bottle was around 750 yen. that was long ago and didn’t see it anywhere else. your best bet is to buy from the internet like amazon or rakuten. or buy ginger and make your own.

  4. if you have the time and energy, it might be fun to grate some ginger, tumeric, lemon/orange and other nice things, add in spices you like and freeze them into cubes (or empty yakult bottles) to drink after a little thaw?

the fresh produce here is so tasty, it might turn out even better than what you’ve had before

  5. Roughly slice up a piece of ginger the size of a thumb to the first joint.

Boil a cup of water and a spoonful of sugar.
When it boils, remove it from the heat and fish out the ginger with a fork.

Let the ginger steep until it cools down and then put it into the refrigerator to cool further.

Drink straight or as an ingredient in smoothies.

  6. Buy ginger at supermarket. Grate some ginger with like a daikon oroshi grater. Put half teaspoon in boiled water. Add teaspoon honey because yum and also nice to tum. Enjoy.
