Why is there such a high Chinese presence in Kyoto? And why are there so many A’s fans in Japan overall?

I’ve noticed some interesting trends during my recent trip to Japan and couldn’t find explanations online:

I noticed such a higher presence of Chinese people in Kyoto compared to Tokyo. If its simply tourism, why is Chinese spoken on the metro in place of Korean like in Tokyo?

And why the Oakland A’s? I understand the big teams with big Japanese names (NYY, SFG…) but the A’s??? So random lol – I’m very curious to know why such a random poor team is represented a lot here.
