I just moved to japan on a working holiday visa and want to get a SIM card from LINEMO because of their no-data line plan. I don’t have a Japanese number currently, but when I apply for a SIM card they ask for one. What do I do?
You shouldn’t need one. Its been almost a year and a bit since I set mine up so maybe shit changed, but perhaps you’re selecting the wrong option upon looking to sign up with them.
Got any friends whose number you can write down? If not, could you use the number of your workplace or school for example?
When I moved here last year I had the same chicken and egg problem and ended up just using the number of my school (no one actually contacts you, usually). As soon as my mobile line was activated I then immediately changed the contact number to my new mobile number.
