Itinerary Check for 1 week in Hokkaido!

Hey Folks!

I’ve got a 2 week trip lined up for Jp at the end of Feb. I had a few places planned but I’m the type to spend an extended time in a place to check out most things I figured it would make more sense to limit the 2 weeks to just Hokkaido and Tokyo… I’ve got the 2nd half (Tokyo) all planned out since I’ve been to Tokyo a fair few times already but since it’s my first time in Hokkaido I’m open to suggestions to the plans I have below for Hokkaido

Hokkaido Day 1-

Shinkansen from Tokyo and arrive at Sapporo probably around 5-6PM, Check in Hotel, Pick a random place around Odori/Sapporo Station Area for dinner (open to suggestions for places!)

Hokkaido Day 2

Breakfast at Hotel then head off to Sapporo Beer Factory for Lunch and Sample Beer!. Evening is pretty free so probably walkabout looking for random arcade/crane games and dinner

Hokkaido Day 3

Breakfast at Hotel then off to Shiroi Koibito Park for Lunch and desserts! Then again free afternoon/evening to wander about Sapporo

Hokkaido Day 4

Breakfast at Nijo Market then check-out from hotel, Train to Otaru, leave stuff in hotel until check-in. Generally free day to walkabout in Otaru to check out good places for eating and sightseeing!

Hokkaido Day 5

Breakfast at Hotel, off to Yoichi to visit Nikka Whisky Factory for more good eating and drinking, Evening is once again free to check Otaru out!

Hokkaido Day 6

Breakfast at Hotel, Early Check Out and Train Ride to Hakodate to hopefully be there around lunch, drop bags at hotel, go to Kanemori Akarenga for Lunch and sightseeing, finish checking in hotel, make way to Mt Hakodate Ropeway and enjoy dinner and night view!

Hokkaido Day 7

Breakfast at Hakodate Market then Shinkansen back to Tokyo!

Will be taking advantage of a JR Pass for the Hokkaido part since I’ll mostly be using trains. I’ve kept Sapporo and Otaru pretty open so I’m open to suggestions on stuff I can squeeze in the afternoon/dinner ie. places to eat, visit or arcades to go to and commit financial suicide on crane games =P. Hakodate I put at the end since I figured I would try and reduce the total train time on the very last day by making my way closer to where the Shinkansen station is at Shin-Hakodate Hokuto and Hakodate is on my bucket list of places to visit anyway… even if its the most “squeezed” part of the itinerary. Cheers for any suggestions!

  1. M’dude, there’s no Shinkansen to Sapporo. It ends in Hakodate. Get an LCC flight from Narita to ShinChitose.
