Any PR rejection stories?

A friend of mine is planning to apply for PR soon, however he is concerned about being rejected. He said that from the stories he has heard, rejection seems quite common. So I am curious if any of you have applied and were rejected and was interested in hearing your story. How many times were you rejected and how long after until you were finally approved if at all?

  1. So, not a rejection story but….

Applied June 1st 2022. Got PR after 5months in Nov. 11 years in country, 10 year path.

    Good luck.

  2. Not a rejection but… The process is painfully SLOW as if they produce and fabricate their own paper and inks to write letters an put a Hanko and fax them to ask you for further information clarification letter and it’s so exhausting. In my case I applied for PR one year before my actual visa expired. It was a spouse visa. Well not only me but my wife got extensively questioned and investigated and was asked to provide proof of compliance in taxes and proof that our marriage was not forced or by convenience. Also the process was so slow that they asked me to file renewal of spouse visa while they continue the process. At the end it took 11 months. But is it worth it ? YES.

Edited for typos and let me add that this was in 2021 during peak pandemic.

  3. I overheard a conversation at a bar where someone said they got rejected because they didn’t pay their pension the first couple of years they came to Japan.
