So I’ve seen varying opinions on this, but I wanted to see if anyone has done core 6k? And is it worth it? I’ve done the first 2 parts of a core 6k deck, and there are 4 more parts available, but I was wondering whether it’s worth it over just adding stuff from a light novel as I read? Does the usefulness of the core deck drop off at a certain point?
I’ve currently been taking a break after core 2k, doing only reviews so that I can consolidate and wait for my reviews per day to go down, but I was wondering what people’s experiences were on where to go next.

Light novel reading? Do the 6k. It will save you dozens of hours looking up words, but a regular light novel will still have TONS of new vocab anyways for you to look up. At the 6k mark you should be able to go through light novels with some difficulty depending on subject. You are right about where I am and I must admit the sheer amount of color and descriptive words encountered will be super useful. Knowing how to say things like ‘howl’, ‘sway’ and ‘jade’ are all common. You will also get 橙色 which is orange, but it is not a joyo kanji and it comes up seemingly everywhere.
