  1. To get the right answer? You might have to go with the one they request. Duolingo is flexible on some answers but not others. They might accept the one you gave, however there appears to be a typo, should be “どう*ぞ*よろしく”

Just generally speaking? I guess both should be ok, but I’m not an expert.

  2. Yeah, this isn’t a very good duolingo question really… Like unless the bear sometimes wears a suit and other times wears casual to give some indication of the situation, it’s kind of too vague.

Hajimemashite is more informal and is kind of like saying “This is our first time meeting. Nice to meet you.” Douzo Yoroshiku” is more like saying, in the context of your first meeting, “please have favor on me/please take care of me/nice to meet you” and is normally used in more formal situations. Like you are going to be working together with someone and you are asking them to take care of you… while also saying nice to meet you? lol

Sorry, I know that sounds confusing.. but yeah.. I’m sure someone else can give a better explanation.

  3. どうぞよろしく doesn’t mean nice to meet you, はじめまして definitely does. どうぞよろしく is one of those “set phrases” in Japanese that literally means “please be nice to me”. Though it is usually used in conjunction with はじめまして, it doesn’t have to be, and they are not at all synonyms.

  4. Even with the typo duo if it had the right request would’ve accepted it. This is one of my issues with duo only accepting some responses

  5. I’d change the pronunciation to Hiragana or no pronunciation once you know hiragana well enough.

I think it’s because you said どうずand not どうぞ

  6. If it’s your first time meeting someone, you’re going to use “hajimemashite” if you’re instigating the greeting.

If you’re second, it’s… less clear. There are situations where if you use it despite being the second you can seem a bit… strict in your use of the language. You can just go “yoroshikuonegaishimasu.”

Nonetheless, it looks like the bear gives absolutely zero fs about meeting you.
