Table to convert Japanese years (Era) to 4-digit years

Not sure what the official name for either of these years is, but I live here and it drives me crazy LOL. It’s hard to remember other than my year of birth, current year, my son’s year of birth, etc.

I’m looking into taxes now and saw the tax guide has a really good table on page 17: [https://www.nta.go.jp/english/taxes/individual/pdf/incometax\_2021/01.pdf](https://www.nta.go.jp/english/taxes/individual/pdf/incometax_2021/01.pdf)

I might just print this one page off and keep it!

(and yes I know the tax guide isn’t 2022 – was just browsing and clicked on it first)

  1. You mean like Showa, Heiwa, Reiwa, etc? I always Google them 😂 1965年は昭和何年。 i remember showa is ‘26-89, heiwa is ‘89-‘19, and Reiwa is ‘19-now so I can at least know what year I’m looking up for. (You should totally learn them, but while you’re learning, Google is also useful 😂)
